Hello and welcome to my brand new blog! I am so excited that you are here! In this first post, I would like to introduce myself and what I am all about.
First, my name is Rebecca and I am a certified image consultant, living in Athens, GA. I am a wife, mother of two teenagers (one of whom I home school), a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a small business owner. I have always had a passion for clothing, fashion and the psychology of it all. What is it that makes us choose to wear one thing over another? Why do we buy things we never wear? Why do some people hate to look at fashion magazines and others love it? Why are some people so effortlessly chic and put together and some cannot figure it all out? The questions are endless, but I am here for you!
As a young girl, I discovered there were articles of clothing that my mother would pull out for me to wear that would make me sad all day long. I would not want to be seen in them because I hated them. Then, there were other things she would give me to wear that made me want to be seen! I wanted to dance! I did not want to take them off at the end of the day. Fast forward to my teen years and I began to read fashion magazines, sew my own clothes and develop my own style. By that time, I knew for a fact that clothing had power! Power not only to affect one’s mood but power in how others perceived and reacted to you. I pursued a college degree in fashion and then worked for retail giants like Neiman Marcus and Gap. Helping people get dressed and feel amazing is something that brings me tremendous joy.
Fast forward again to 2006, when I discovered that image consulting was an actual career. Imagine my delight! By this time I was a stay at home mother of two small children and self-employed as a freelance photographer, but I wanted to pursue building a career as an image consultant. I enrolled in training with London Image Institute in Atlanta and fell in love with all things image consulting. Sadly, my husband and I decided it was just not the time for me to launch my business, but I kept my training materials beside my bed for the next 12 years, still dreaming of becoming a working image consultant. At last in 2019, I launched my business and wake up excited about it every single day!
I have since also trained with the Fashion Stylist Institute and am proud to be an active member of the AICI (Association of Image Consultants International), the global governing body of the image industry. I am trained to help both men and women improve in the areas of appearance, body language and behavior, communication skills and digital presence. This blog will be a place to share tips, tricks, training and discuss trends in both fashion and professional finesse.
I invite all my readers to engage, ask questions and share these posts. The only I ask in return is that this be a place of kindness, support, and positivity. I believe all people possess beauty and worth and it is my great pleasure to help everyone realize those things in themselves.
Stylishly yours,
Rebecca
